where i come from

we were all sitting around the spacious living room that overlooked the $11-million view which i believe to be priceless. my grandma somehow got to telling us oblivious grandchildren the history of our great-grandfather, my history. my great-grandfather, a rich landowner, had to decide between being tortured and embarrassed by the communist or committing suicide - he choose suicide. all this i never knew until today. i never knew i came from this and i never knew how much my family has suffered and persevered to come to where we are now. it's hard for me to say i'm proud of my family and what we've done with our past history and current privilege - but i can say things dont stop here. we're still making history.
