won't you be my neighbor?

my friend lives in an apartment that's being converted to condos which means much renovating is needed. because of this, she's in a crazy living situation where her electricity and water go out at random and inconvenient times and she can't sleep because the contractors are working until the wee hours of the night, sometimes until 3am! if i were her, i would totally respond with anger and frustration. i would probably even go to the contractors and complain/yell at them for the disturbance and inconvenience. but my friend has chosen otherwise. she is nice to them, tries to sympathize with their workload, and even cooked lunch for this past saturday. i helped her set up and cook and it was such a treat to serve the construction workers. i think my friend has really learned what it really means to love your neighbor.
